EVENT: 'Round Our Way'

EVENT: 'Round Our Way'

The Northern Quarter Gallery, in collaboration with the NSPCC, has announced a special charity event in aid of Childhood Day. Taking place on Thursday 13th June in Manchester City Centre, 'Round Our Way' will be an evening of conversation with four of Manchester's most well-loved music personalities.

With the full line-up now confirmed, event organisers are thrilled to announce that Peter Hook, legendary bassist and co-founder of Joy Division and New Order, will make a special appearance in the intimate surroundings of the Old Nags Head to chat candidly about his musical influences and how Manchester has shaped his career over the years.

Joining Peter will be vocal powerhouse Rowetta. Although best known as a member of the Happy Mondays, Rowetta is a hugely successful artist in her own right having become an integral part of the Ibiza dance music scene. Her vocals have been sampled on tracks by high profile performers including the Black Eyed Peas, Todd Terry and Swedish House Mafia.

Completing the 'Round Our Way' line-up are Clint Boon and Mike Sweeney. Both are now popular radio DJs on XS Manchester and BBC Radio Manchester respectively. However, Clint and Mike have backgrounds firmly rooted in the City's rich musical heritage. During the 'Madchester' movement of the late '80s and early '90s, Clint played keyboards with the Inspiral Carpets before going on to form the Clint Boon Experience. Mike meanwhile is pretty much an overlord of the Manchester music scene. Having enjoyed success with his band Salford Jets in the late '70s, the charismatic Salfordian went on to become a broadcasting legend....he even has two New York Radio Awards!

'Round Our Way' will also feature a live set from alternative hip hop band ARGH KiD, along with an auction of bespoke artwork designed especially for the night by artists from the NQ Collective (including Eliza Rocker Art...watch this space!) With tickets limited to just 100 (see below for details), the event is likely to sell out quickly so get yourself down to one of the outlets and bag yourself a place at what promises to be a very special evening of entertainment!
